Evansville Lutheran is fully accredited by the Indiana Department of Education and has received accreditation through the LCMS’s National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) body.

Evansville Lutheran School admits students of any race, sex, color, or national or ethnic origin. Preference is given to children who are members of our Lutheran School Association churches and affiliated congregations. The Director of Admissions walks families through each step of the admission process. All applicants must submit an online application found on the ELS website under the Admissions Page. For incoming 1st -8th grade students, parents must provide authorization for ELS to request records from the student’s previous school.

After receipt of all application requirements, for all families new to ELS (or families from a previous year), the Admissions Director will schedule a 30-40 minute new student assessment. Within 1 week, the Principal will look over the results, and a 20-30 minute interview (may be longer for older students/students with special circumstances) with the Principal will be scheduled.

For current ELS families enrolling siblings, interviews will be scheduled for new 1st -8 th grade students. A Kindergarten Readiness Check conducted by our Kindergarten teacher is required for all Kindergarten students.

Experience leads us to believe that a child’s attitude about school and about himself/herself is directly influenced by the way he/she is dressed. For this reason Evansville Lutheran does have a dress code. This includes solid color uniform-style shorts,  pants, or skirts. Solid color polo or collered shirt. More specifics can be found in our “dress code” policy.

Our school, and association churches, accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

  • Grace Alone

God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.

  • Faith Alone

By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.

  • Scripture Alone

The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
